The Oil Skimmer, or Floating Contaminant Skimmer, uses specifically designed wier plates at set predefined locations to withhold the Floating Contaminant from the flow allowing the water to continue unabated. Even when the flow abates the Floating Contaminant is contained withing the trap.
The Oil Skimmer is used in sites with low to medium velocity flows. They can be designed as an integral part of any of our other Gross Pollutant or Sediment Traps or can be installed in their own right.
Target Pollutant Class
The Oil Skimmer is targeted at capturing:
- the Floating Contaminant class of pollutants.
The Oil Skimmer is suitable for treating the following water sources:
- Small Channels
- Small Culverts
The Oil Skimmer is primarily used for sites with low to medium velocity flows.
The Oil Skimmer is suitable for grades from less than 0.05% to to any grade. Please note while we can cater for high grades some design modification may be required.
The Oil Skimmer is suitable for treating flows from as low as a 3 month ARI to 5 year ARI.
We don't treat the "first flush", we treat the whole flow for the duration of the event.
The size of the Oil Skimmer is dependent on the Water Source, Velocity, Grade and Treatable Flow and the site to be treated. It also depends on if it is to be a standalone trap or part of an integral design.
The size of the Dual Vane Trap is dependent on the:
- Cross Sectional area of the Water Source,
- Treatable Flow
T o give you an idea of sizing here is a sample set of configurations.
|Cross Sectional Area||Height||Width||Length|
Note: These figures are indicative only and do not represent the largest or smallest sizes we can treat. If you need an estimate size for your plans please contact us and we will be able to provide this information to you over the phone if you can provide some or all of the Site Requirements.
The Oil Skimmer is suited as a lidded or unlidded solution.
The Oil Skimmer uses on-line storage.
It depends if it is to be a standalone trap or part of an integral design.
Standard equipment and modular construction combine to make installation convenient with minimum interruption or alteration to existing conditions. Deep excavation is generally not required with the Oil Skimmer.
Cleaning of the Oil Skimmer is dependent on the site requirements but any of the following can be used with this design of trap.
